hump day happiness

It's hump day and you deserve some calming food videos for making it this far. Here are a few of my current favorites:

1. Rene Redzepi and Rosio Sanchez making tortillas

Mexican food is so hot right now. Being from California, it's weird to witness Mexican food as a trend...but if it means more handmade tortillas in more places, I'm not complaining. There's only one place I get my tacos from here, and my favorite thing to do there is lean over the counter and watch the rise and fall of fresh tortillas on the flat top. By the way, if anyone has legitimate taco recommendations in the city, I'm all ears (provided you're from LA or SD or Mexico, because I'm prejudiced like that).

2. Razza's Bread and Butter

One of the best things about working in the food industry is that passion is the norm. People are legitimately obsessed about what they do, and they're hungry for other people who get that. I love how Chef Dan Richer's bread and butter is his favorite thing he's "ever done in the food world." I love how visibly excited he is when he smells that beautiful starter. I love that he molds his butter with old-school wooden butter paddles. The whole thing just makes me feel warm and fuzzy and somehow less alone in the world.

3. The Chemistry of Cookies

I know. When will this girl stop talking about cookies? (Spoiler: never.) This Ted-Ed video basically presents all the valuable information you didn't get from me, in cute, animated form. My favorite tip here is that you don't really need a timer - it's true! I do set one just because I'm forgetful to a fault, but my timer always rings the second that rich caramel smell reaches my nose. Pretty cool, right?

* There's still five more days for you to win free cookies - just share your favorite cookie memory in the comment section here! *
